I may have overdone it for our second date, but she told me she was a country girl, so a home-cooked meal—something warm and savory—seemed appropriate. Even used the fireplace for the first time. Which means I chopped wood for the first time. Which means I made a mess. Splinters everywhere. Even in the tufts of the couch where we sat after our meal, itchy and a little turned on, sipping dessert wine.
